Beyond Prediction

Once upon a time in China, there lived an old man along with his wife and his son. Besides his family, he also had a beautiful horse which he loved so much. One day, he lost his horse. He searched anywhere but he did not find it. Even when his neighbours gave a hand to looked for, the horse still could not be found. One of his neighbours felt a pity and said , "What an unlucky day for you. You lost the best horse I've ever seen." "Oooh . You don't have to pity me. I do lose my horse, but it might not be as worst as you think. It might be a good news for me.", the old man replied wisely.

A few days after that incident, he heard voice outside his house when he slept. The voice which he already got used to hear before, voice of his beloved horse. He opened the door and saw his horse was back. More surprisingly, his horse brought along 2 wild-horse which were more beautiful than itself. He was very grateful. Nevertheless, he was not overjoyed. Thus when his neighbours congratulated him for getting back his horse plus 2 beautiful horses in addition effortlessly, he said, "I am grateful that I got back my horse and 2 new horses effortlessly. However, I can't be overjoyed. Since I can't predict the future, it is possible that this good news will turn into bad news."

What he said was true, his only son got accident when he rode his new horse. He slipped and fallen down. Because of it, the son broke his legs and could not walk properly for a few days. The respond from his neighbours was obvious, they responded with a pity look and said that it would be better for him if he released the horses before. The old man stayed calm and said to his son, "They may think that this is a bad news for us, but as I said before, it might be a good news someday."

One year after the accident, king of his kingdom commanded every youngster to join military in order to protect the kingdom from invasion. While every youngster in his village went with their parents crying, the old man smiled with his son beside him. Because of his injury, the king gave an excuse not to join military.

Even I have read only twice, I could not forget moral of the story. It said that

Not every bad news is a disaster whereas not every good news is a gift. Good news today could be tomorrow's bad news and yesterday's bad news could be good news for today.

According to news I received a few days ago about my father's illness, I don't have to think that it is a calamity. Instead I could think that there must be a good news beyond my prediction. Besides, I have Allah and He know the best for His believer. Thus my praying should be enough

And for those who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares a way out. And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if anyone puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish His purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion. (Q.S. Ath-Thalaq : 2-3)
